Obama to embark on three-day India trip

Washington/New Delhi: Creating a bit of quotable history and legacy, US President Barack Obama will soon embark on three-day trip to India.

President Obama is visiting India on an invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the Indian Republic Day celebration as the chief guest.

First Lady Michelle Obama will accompany Barack Obama in the trip. The President will also be accompanied by a sizeable delegation. Several members of his cabinet, business leaders and US lawmakers are part of the delegation.

Minority leader of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi is also part of the delegation.

Schedule:

January 25
-Arrival at 10am
-President Obama will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at 12 noon at Rashtrapati Bhawan by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
-Obama will pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat at 12:40 pm.
-He will participate in a tree planting event. Restricted working lunch at Hyderabad House with Narendra Modi and "walk and talk" at about 2:45 pm.
-Expanded delegation level meeting and joint address the press at 4:10 pm. Obama to meet embassy personnel and families at ITC Maurya Hotel at 7:35 pm.
-Dinner with President Pranab Mukherjee at 7:50 pm at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

January 26
-President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will participate in Republic Day celebration on January 26.
-They will later attend a reception with Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
-Barack Obama and Narendra Modi to participate in CEO forum round table and deliver remarks at a US-India Business Summit.

January 27
-President Obama to give an address at Siri Fort Auditorium on January 27 in the morning before departure.
