Geneva: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says he will meet U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on January 16 to discuss Tehran's nuclear program.

Zarif told reporters shortly before leaving Geneva that he would meet briefly with Kerry in Paris.

He said he would also meet French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to discuss bilateral and regional issues as well as extremism and Islamophobia.

Kerry traveled to Paris to honor the victims killed in last week's attacks by Islamist militants there.

On January 14, he and Zarif held more than five hours of talks in Geneva.

Those talks set the stage for bilateral U.S.-Iranian dicussions that started in Geneva on January 15 and a meeting of negotiators from six global powers and Iran on January 18.

Iran and the global powers have set a July 1 deadline for a deal that would curb Tehran's nuclear program, easing concerns it could develop atomic weapons, in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.
