Indian PM condoles loss of lives in Bangladesh fire

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condoled loss of lives resulting from a fire in a garment factory outside Dhaka.

In a statement issued to the press from the Prime Minister’s Office, Singh said, “I am deeply saddened at the loss of life resulting from the fire in a garment factory outside Dhaka. On behalf of the government of India, I express to the government and people of Bangladesh our sincerest condolences at this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families.”

At least 125 people died in the fire that broke out in the multi-storeyed building of the ‘Tazreen Fashion’ factory late Saturday.
