Pakistani police officers who forced couple to parade naked, suspended

Islamabad: As per the media reports several Pakistani police officers have been suspended after they were accused of parading a couple naked in public. 

The case has created a public outcry.

Witnesses has reportedly have said police in the Sindh town of Gambat forced the man and woman to walk to the police station naked as punishment for trying to have sex outside marriage.

Reportedly, a mobile video clip shows a naked man being beaten by police and a woman begging them to let her cover herself.


When a local SHO was contacted, he agreed to give an official statement on the case but was later unavailable to make comments. 

The couple was reportedly arrested on charges of "intent to commit adultery" in late July.

The man involved, Mumtaz Mirbahar, has since been released on bail, while the woman remains in detention.
