Guwahati: Three youths have
been arrested on the charge of molesting a girl in Christianbasti region along
the busy Guwahati-Shillong road on Monday night, when she was returning home
after a late-night party.
As per official
reports the girl had entered into a brawl in the bar with her friend and after
having an argument some youths attempted to molest her.
Senior Superintendent
of Police Apurba Jibon Barua informed a National English daily that so
far nine persons involved in the incident have been identified.
The investigation
is on as police were trying to identify others.
The
accused were charged with unlawful assembly, obscene act and assault on a woman
with the intent to outrage her modesty, following a written complaint filed by
the girl's mother.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi termed
the incident as unfortunate.
Meanwhile,
he also directed the district administration and
police to monitor all bars, clubs, discos and hotels and raid them at any time
if there was report of any untoward incident.
