London: India has finally entered Olympic medal tally with ace marksman Gagan Narang winning bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle event.
The 29-year-old shooter had a total score of 701.1 (598 qualifying, 103.1 final) to finish third at the Royal Artillery Barracks range.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has congratulated Narang over this achievement.
“I join the nation in congratulating Shooter Gagan Narang on his winning the Olympic bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle event. I wish Narang more success in the two other events he is participating in,” Singh said in a statement issued to the press.
