Cairo: Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood has won Egypt's presidential race with 51.7% of last weekend’s run-off vote, defeating ex-Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq.
The above announcement was made by the Chairman of Election Commission today here in Cairo.
The Brotherhood dominates newly elected Egyptian Parliament and was already expected to win these historical post-Mubarak polls.
Notably, the voting for final-round was stretched over two days. In all, 13 candidates were on the ballot, but one has dropped out of the race.
