Islamabad: Militants crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan and killed 13 Pakistani troops, beheading seven of them, the Pakistani military said on Monday.
In a statement released to the press, Pakistani military officials said that militants from Afghanistan crossed the border in the north-western Pakistan's Upper Dir region Sunday night and clashed with Pakistan forces on a patrol.
Reportedly, six Pakistani troops were killed outright. Seven who went missing were killed and then beheaded, while the remaining four have still not been found.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has condemned the killing saying he would complain directly to Afghan President Hamid Karzai about the incident.
