Lahore, Pakistan: Eight persons were killed and several others injured in an apparent suicide bombing outside a police complex in this eastern Pakistan city on Tuesday, local officials said.
According to media reports the incident took place when a suicide bomber came to a hotel outside the Police Lines and blew himself up.
Television footage showed that the intense explosion shattered windows on nearby buildings and set several vehicles on fire.
A senior police official told the media that the suicide bomber wanted to enter the police headquarters but failed to do so due to several layers of security.
Jamaat ul Ahrar, a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the Lahore blast.
About 150 people mostly children were killed in a devastating attack on a Peshawar school in December last year.
