New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid floral tributes to the preeminent leader of India’s independence struggle - Mahatma Gandhi at his Samadhi (memorial) Rajghat here in New Delhi.

Earlier, Modi took to Twitter to pay his homage. “My tributes to Pujya (respected) Bapu,” he tweeted.

India is paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 67th death anniversary. He was assassinated in the year 1948 at a prayer meeting .The day is also observed as Martyrs` Day.
