Al Qaeda video claims responsibility of Paris carnage

Washington/Paris: Al Qaeda’s Yemen affiliate has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

In a video released by the media unit of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), outfit’s top commander Nasr al-Ansi described the bloodshed as "blessed battle of Paris."

"As for the blessed Battle of Paris, we, the Organisation of al Qaeda al Jihad in the Arabian Peninsula, claim responsibility for this operation as vengeance for the Messenger of God," al-Ansi said.

Warning of more "terror tragedies", the AQAP leader said France belongs to the "party of Satan."

Charlie Hebdo assault was the beginning of three days of terror in France which left 17 dead.

It was the deadliest act of terrorism in country since the 1961 Vitry-Le-François train bombing by the Organisation de l'armée secrète (OAS).
