New Delhi: Indian government has constituted a Special Task Force (STF) headed by Union Home Secretary to look into the safety issues of women in Delhi.

The 13-member task force will continuously review the functioning of the Delhi Police. The task force may will also take into consideration the suggestions made by the Members of the Parliament during the debate on the issue.

Notably, the decision to form this task force comes in the backdrop of public protest over the brutal gang-rape of a young woman in the national capital on December 16. The victim succumbed to her grievous injuries on Saturday in a Singapore hospital.
