Saudi-deported IM suspect held at Delhi airport

New Delhi: Fasih Mohammad, a terror suspect and a key accused in the Delhi and the Bangalore blast was today arrested after he was deported from Saudi Arabia., TV channels reported on Monday.

He is now reportedly in the custody of Delhi Police’s anti-terrorist special cell.  

28-years-old Mohammad, after being in detention for five months in Saudi Arabia, was taken into custody from Delhi airport on his arrival from the Gulf, official sources said.

Few months ago India had asked for the deportation of Fasih from Saudi Arabia and also got an Interpol Red Corner notice issued against him.

Professionally, an engineer from Bihar and believed to be a member of the banned outfit Indian Mujahideen. Fasih is alleged to have been involved in the Chinnaswamy Stadium blast in Bangalore and the shooting near Jama Masjid (Delhi), both in 2010, and is wanted by Delhi and Karnataka police.

Mohammad’s wife Nikhat Parveen had appealed to the Supreme Court seeking information on his arrest after he was allegedly picked up from Al Jubal in May this year.

His family has alleged that his detention was part of a joint operation of Indian and Saudi security agencies.
