New York: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday met
with Korean rap artist and Youtube star Psy at UN headquarters in New York,
telling him "I'm a bit jealous. Until a few days ago somebody told me that
I'm the most famous Korean in the world".
Ban, who believes Psy's music has great power to overcome
intolerance, told him when they met that he hoped there were "hundreds of
many more Korean, popular Koreans like you in the world."
"You are so cool", Ban told Psy and continued,
"I hope you can end the global warming."
Psy told Ban this was a "huge momentum of my life"
and that for all Koreans Ban Ki-moon "is the guy". He was touched
that the UN Secretary-General "knows me" and that "he saw my
video, he counted my video views".
Psy is a South Korean rapper, dancer, and record producer
who belongs to the so-called "K Pop" movement in Korea. His
hit-single "Gangnam Style", featuring his signature dance, recently
went viral on Youtube and has been viewed more than half a billion times. -UNifeed
