BRICS nations stress need of peaceful solution to settle situation in Syria

New York:  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his counterparts in the BRICS countries stressed the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, state news agency SANA reported. 

According to media reports that the Ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's meeting on Thursday expressed, their concerns about the escalation of violence and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria, stressing that settling the situation should exclude the foreign intervention or the imposition of any stance of whatever side.

The participants pointed out to the importance of boosting the UN presence in Syria, as they expressed support to the UN envoy's mission, Lakhdar Brahimi.
