New York: Jewish community has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the six Sikhs murdered in a “heinous attack” on their temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

In a statement issued to the press, American Jewish Committee (AJC) said, "We fully share with our friends in the Sikh community outrage over this inhuman assault, and cannot begin to fathom why any gunman would target their Wisconsin temple.”

"Let's be clear: Violence against a house of worship is an assault on the core values at the foundation of American society," AJC further said.

The gunman, who apparently acted alone, was killed by a police officer. Law enforcement authorities are investigating the shooting, which occurred on Sunday, as a case of domestic terrorism.
