Islamabad: U.S. drone strike has killed at least 16 people in the restive northwest tribal region near the Afghan border, said security officials in Pakistan.
As per officials information, drone-fired missiles hit three compounds on Friday in North Waziristan, a known hub for Taliban and al-Qaida-linked militants.
Notably,the attack come a day after Pakistan protest against drone strike and in this view it has summoned a U.S. diplomat calling them "unlawful."
Pakistan has repeatedly criticized the drone strikes, saying they violate the country's sovereignty.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials have reportedly said, the strikes was an important tool in defeating the insurgents.
