New York: Gunman opens fire outside Empire State Building

New York: A lone gunman opened fire outside the landmark Empire State Building in New York city today.

According to Police officials, one civilian was killed and at least eight others were wounded in the incident. The gunman was shot to death by police.

Reportedly, the firing occured around 9 am (local time) on the sidewalk on Fifth Avenue outside the building in Midtown Manhattan. Emergency units were rushed to the scene immediately. 

Further investigations have been ordered.
