Damascus: In an attempt to resolve long-standing diplomatic issue a delegation of Syrian top officials on Saturday held talks with Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission who arrived in the Syrian capital on a two-day visit.

Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, discussed with Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council's Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security Alaeddin Boroujerdi means of enhancing bilateral relations between Syria and Iran and talk to end country's crisis.

Al-Laham stressed the deep-rooted relations combining the two brotherly countries in all fields, hailing the genuine stances of Iran which support Syria against the conspiracy.

For his part, Boroujerdi stressed the strong ties between the two countries on all levels, adding that Iran will spare no efforts at international forums to stand by Syria to overcome the crisis.

He asserted that the solution to the crisis in Syria has to be from inside Syria, considering Iran's support to Syria under these circumstances as "support and protection to the Palestinian Cause."

In their two days visit the Iranian delegation will also meet to President Bashar Al Assad. The visit comes as Iran has recently proposed a new initiative to solve the Syrian crisis.

The NAM summit will be held Aug 30-31 in Tehran.
