New Delhi: An eight-member delegation led by the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgwetsi Masisi, Botswana today called on the Indian minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Culture Kumari Selja.
During their half-an-hour meeting, both the sides discussed the common areas of interest such as slum upgrading, affordable housing, skill development and monitoring of training programmes for the beneficiaries through biometrics tracking system, community involvement in government programmes etc.
It was agreed that the two countries will actively collaborate and share their experiences in the field of human settlements.
Before its meeting with Kumari Selja, the visiting delegation also interacted with the officials of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation. During the meeting, the Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation A.K. Mishra and other senior officials apprised the visiting delegation of various programmes/schemes of the Ministry.
The Botswana delegation is currently in India on a week-long visit till 23rd June 2012 to bench-mark on India’s best practices on poverty eradication.
