London: In a bid to improve online security, social networking giant Facebook, Inc is asking each of its active users to provide their mobile phone numbers.
The Palo Alto-based social media site’s users will get security warnings advising them to follow "simple security tips" in order to stay in control of their accounts.
Reportedly, millions of users have already seen a link at the top of their profile requesting them to follow 'simple security tips'.
Clicking on the link will redirect to the site's security page where they will asked to choose a unique password. Facebook will also give a tutorial to users on how to spot an online scam.
They would then request to provide their phone number for secure account recovery.
