Cairo: Egypt's President-elect Mohamed Morsi addressed a huge gathering at Cairo’s iconic Tahrir Square on Friday.
According to media reports, Morsi symbolically sworn himself in before thousands of supporters who gathered to protest against decrees issued by Egypt's military rulers.
Addressing the crowd, he paid his tribute to Egypt's Muslims and Christians alike and promised for a ‘civilian state’.
His supporters, reportedly, chanted "Morsi is president of the republic" and waved Egyptian flags with his picture inset.
Notably, Islamist Morsi is due to be sworn in officially on June 30 before the Constitutional Court, as demanded by Egypt's ruling military council.
