Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCCI) on Saturday slapped a life ban on cricketer TP Sudhindra and handed lighter punishments to four other players accused of fixing in a sting operation during this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

Reportedly, the disciplinary committee comprising BCCI chairman N Srinivasan and board vice-presidents Arun Jaitley and Niranjan Shaha discuss the report submitted by the Board's anti-corruption unit chief Ravi Sawani on the matter and decided to ban the players for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing.

While TP Sudhindra has been banned for life, Shalabh Srivastava has been banned from playing for a period of five years. The other three - Mohnish Mishra and Amit Yadav and Abhinav Bali - have been handed a year's ban each.

Notably, all the above uncapped Indian cricketers were provisionally suspended last month following allegations of corruption, made by a local news channel.
