Washington: United States has expelled Syrian Charge d'Affaires Zuheir Jabbour over recent Houla massacre which killed more than 100 civilians.

Addressing a press conference, US State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland announced that Jabbour has 72 hours to leave the American soil.

“We took this action in response to the massacre in the village of Houla - absolutely indefensible, vile, despicable massacre - against innocent children, women, shot at point-blank range by regime thugs,” Nuland said.

United States has taken the decision to expel Syria’s most senior diplomat in coordination with its allies Australia, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands and Spain.
