[Video] Solar eclipse of May 20th as seen by Hinode Telescope

Saturday, May 26, 2012

An annular solar eclipse took place in the late hours of May20th, into the 21st, and was visible from the ground in southern China, Japan, and the western United States.

Hinode is in a low-Earth (630km altitude – about 400 miles) sun-synchronous polar orbit that permits nearly continuous observations of the sun and was in position to capture images of the solar eclipse.
